Patricia Lightsey was born in Lima, Peru. She studied in Lima, Peru, and Argentina, focusing on psychology. Later, she moved to the U.S., worked as a counselor, and then transitioned in 2002 to become a muscle therapist.
She studied kinesiology and various modalities like orthopedic and myofascial manipulation. She also specializes in spine surgical recovery using muscle therapy. She developed her own program, ‘Muscle Therapy by Patricia Lightsey,’ focusing on chronic conditions like fibromyalgia, Parkinson’s, spine surgical recovery, and more.
Her Primary goal is to help her clients live a better life by using a combo of therapies to improve their quality of life. She is a licensed muscular therapist in the state of Texas.
Mrs. Lightsey speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian.
Started its life in Plano, TX, before moving to Allen, TX. In the early days, she required doctor referrals. Most new patients are either referred by doctors or current patients. The majority of her existing clientele have been with her for years.
Patients range from the young to the elderly.
Muscle Therapy is NOT the same as Massage Therapy. They are two completely different things.
Muscle therapy is a range of techniques that manipulate muscles and other soft tissues to relieve pain, improve movement, and enhance overall physical function. It’s a holistic approach that can involve massage, stretching, and specific trigger point therapy, often targeting connective tissues like fascia.
This unique massage goes far beyond the traditional clinical sports massage modalities by addressing all the common medical and orthopedic conditions found in most clients. The therapist combines sequences of functional assessment, myofascial release, N.M.T. fractioning muscle energy stretching, neuromuscular re-education and structural balancing. The combination of these techniques allows the patient to obtain excellent results in alleviating.
Propioceptive Neuromuscular: This modality releases muscle spasms and brings relief to chronically tense muscles. It also helps to heal soft tissue injuries. It limits scar formation in new injuries and can reduce or make more pliable scar tissue around old injuries more pliable. We create a personal plan for each patient’s maximum benefit.
Decreases muscle soreness because it flushes muscles of built-up waste products that can make the athlete sore after vigorous exercise. Muscles can become so contracted- ed that they press on nerves to the arms, hands, and legs. Sports massage should be a regular part of any sports training. It is oriented in deep tissue muscle manipulation with range of motion evaluation and muscular facilitation techniques. It also works for muscle spasms, neck stiffness, sore muscles, sprains, and strains.
Special massage techniques to stimulate ligaments and tendons of the neck, arms and hands. The massage techniques are combined with heat, hot wax and infrared light treatments.
is designed to eliminate restrictions that develop in the fascia (broad, thin sheathes of connective tissue that surround muscles, bones, and organs).
Stretches are used to lengthen muscles, allowing the joints to move more freely. We use several stretching meth- ods during a session. Passive (or static) stretching, reciprocal inhibition reflex to the reflex muscle, and rounds of contracting and relaxing a target muscle.
Myoskeletal Alignment Technique (MAT) is a type of bodywork that blends the principles of structural integration to relieve chronic pain and to reduce the potential for the emergence of pain, which could become chronic over time.
was invented over 2 decades ago as a replacement for sports wraps. This elastic tape not only physically supports muscles during activity, but it also lifts the skin away from the muscle tissue so that blood and other bodily fluids can move more freely, thereby speeding recovery. KT can improve ROM, strength while reducing pain and inflammation. Our clinic uses sweat-proof, water-resistant tape. KTA.kinesiotaping.com
Our clinic provides individual and personal stretching programs for the patient to practice at home as part of their muscle rehabilitation and healing process.
I have been a patient of Patricia for almost 15 years. The first time I saw her, my fibromyalgia was so bad that I could not handle even light cloth touching it. She was able to make it so I could surprise my grandmother for her 65th birthday. The therapy I have received as her patient has helped keep many of my issues in check.
